A place rich in history, natural beauty and Southern hospitality. Cumberland Island is an easy day trip from Amelia Island, and a lifetime away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Larger than the island of Manhattan, Cumberland is America's largest wilderness island and has been designated a National Seashore. As such, it's preserved and protected from development. The daily visitor rate is limited to 300, so guests can experience the tranquility and solitude that is the hallmark of a Cumberland visit. The limit also ensures a tranquil setting for the island's population of wild horses, deer, bobcat, sea turtles, boar, armadillos and birds. Spend your days birding (over 300 species appear during the course of a year), swimming, biking, hiking, and fishing, or simply stroll the pristine, white sand beach and savor unparalleled privacy.
The remoteness of Cumberland Island offer visitors an opportunity to enjoy the solitude and serenity of its beautiful beaches and moss-draped live oak forests. Its stark natural beauty and vast biodiversity and ecosystems make it a national treasure that must be experienced.

Tent camping only is allowed, and reservations are required, with a maximum stay of 7 days. You can call (912)882-4335 for camping reservations up to 6 months in advance. Camp at Sea Camp Beach, a developed campground, $4/night, or at one of the primitive backcountry campgrounds for $2/night.
