45th Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival

Held in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, the 45th Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival will feature an array of activities for adults and children.

The Shrimp Festival will dish out boatloads of fresh seafood and shrimp dishes, as local volunteer organizations prepare and serve an astounding assortment of menu items, including shrimp pie, shrimp twisters, crawfish, Cajun shrimp etouffee, fried shrimp and shrimp jambalaya. Other items such as hamburgers, french fries and corn dogs are available.

The Fine Arts and Crafts show will feature works from more than 300 award-winning artists and craftspeople, including jewelry, acrylics, photography, pottery and much more.

Families will enjoy the "Little Pirate" costume contest, pre-festival Pirate Parade, and the Family Fun Zone, which features performances by local dance schools and entertainment for all ages.

Fort Clinch Union Garrison
Living history interpreters recreate life at Fort Clinch during the War between the States. Activities may include powder artillery demonstrations, marching drills, as well as soldiers and civilians taking up duty in the laundry, infirmary and kitchen. For details call (904) 277-7274.

Mother/Daughter Spa Retreat

Wild Amelia Nature Festival
The Wild Amelia Nature Festival educates residents and visitors about the bioregion, and encourages stewardship of the area's natural resources. Started in 2006 by a group of local residents who realized Amelia Island's unique position of being almost surrounded by State and National Parks, made this the perfect place for a nature festival. Fort Clinch WWII Commemoration
Fort Clinch State Park will hold a Memorial Weekend program in honor of the men and women who served in World War II. Visitors can explore military displays, view memorabilia, and learn about the uniforms, weapons, vehicles, and lifestyle of those who were part of the war during the 1940's. The event will take place on May 24, 2008 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and May 25, 2008 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Bring your family to experience a piece of history! Admission to the park is $5.00 per vehicle at the front gate and $2.00 per person to enter the fort. Children under 6 are free.

Amelia's 7th Annual Wine Fest
Enjoy local island art on the grounds of The Spa & Shops at Amelia Island Plantation from 12pm - 5pm. Wine tasting begins at 2pm - 5pm.
