Amelia Island is located at Florida's northeastern shore,
just 15 miles east of Interstate 95, and is a short, 30-minute drive from
Jacksonville International Airport.
Access by Car Two bridges connect the island with
the mainland.
From the south – Take A1A north of
Jacksonville to the Mayport auto
ferry, which traverses the St. Johns River. Or, take A1A north
to J. Turner Butler Boulevard, then north
on 115 over the Dames Point Bridge. Both options continue
on A1A north over Big and Little Talbot Island
onto Amelia Island.
From
I-95 – Take I-95 to Exit 373 (old 129), turn
east onto A1A, travel 15 miles crossing
the Intracoastal Waterway onto Amelia Island.
Arriving by Air
Less than 30 minutes from Amelia Island, Jacksonville International Airport (JIA) links Northeast Florida with cities across the United States and abroad. American Airlines/American Eagle, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, US Airways, Air Canada, Northwest Airlines and United Airlines are among the carriers that service Jacksonville.
Driving from
the Jacksonville Airport – Exit the airport on
the access road, and travel approximately
2 miles to I-95. Take I-95 north for
approximately 9 miles, to Exit 373. Take
Exit 373 (older maps may refernece this
as old exit 129) and proceed east on
Highway A1A to Amelia Island.
